Hall of Fame Dinner 2008

On Friday 17th October 2008, 253 guests celebrated the first ever Golden Stave Hall of Fame Dinner.

The black tie dinner was the first ever evening event for the Golden Stave and the venue was the Four Seasons Hotel (aka Regent Hotel Sydney) home to many great Golden Stave lunches throughout the 80's and 90's.

MC Bianca Dye who accepted her new role as a Golden Stave Amabassador captured the mood of the night early with her entertaining banter and humourus welcome. Bianca was also joined on stage by long servicing MC Barry Chapman and they kept the crowd entertained which led into the opening act Katie Noonan and her Jazz Band who performed a stunning set from her soon to be released "Blackbird" album.

The Hall of Fame Inductees were given out in the following categories;

Founding Members - Chris Gilbey, Peter Hebbes, Ross Barlow, Kent Atkinson and the late Jack Argent.

Former Committee Member - Theo Tambakis.

Long Serving Office Bearers - Barry Chapman, Maryanne Knight, Michael Chugg.

Supporting Australian Artists - Billy Thorpe, Richard Clapton, Brian Cadd, Col Joye.

Outstanding Supporters - Albert Music, EMI Music, Mirvac Hotels & Resorts, Norwest Productions, Fifa Riccobono, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, Universal Music, Warner Music.

The following Golden Stave Ambassadors were announced on the night Glenn A. Baker, Bianca Dye, Jono Coleman and Guy Sebastian. One of the award highlights of the night was Michael Chugg and our friend Jack Thompson presenting the award to Billy Thorpe which was accepted by Billy's wife Lynn. There was night a dry eye in the house, it was a very moving moment and a wonderful tribute to Billy who was a constant supporter of the Stave over the years. Amanda and Austin Pelman accepted the award on behalf of Brian Cadd and Austin let everyone know that his dad rocks, go Austin.....

Newly appointed Golden Stave Ambassador Guy Sebastian with his band thrilled the guests with a stunning performance, performing tracks from his current Memphis Show.

The evening was a huge success and the Golden Stave had pleasure in thanking some of the many people who have helped make the Golden Stave what is has become today.
