2nd Gala Charity Dinner cancelled
12 June 2015
A special Meeting of the Board of Trustees of The Golden Stave Foundation was held on Thursday 11th June to review the position of ticket sales and attendance at this year’s annual event “The Golden Stave Gala Charity Dinner” due to be held Friday 19th June at the Hordern Pavilion.
The regretful but collective decision of all the Trustees was to cancel this year’s dinner in light of where we stand just one week out with disappointing sales. Had we proceeded there was the likely outcome the event may have lost money, eroding funds we already have on hand for distribution to the numerous charities we support.
Our clear policy and charter has always been and always will be to raise funds with the least possible expense to care for kids and their needs. We are in fact very proud of the tight infrastructure of overheads that we as Trustees govern in order to maximize the annual distribution of net funds.
This does not mean for one minute that the long and very proud history of The Golden Stave Foundation will not continue. Indeed the Trustees believe that to preserve the legacy of so many hard working men and women over the past 37 historical years we will regroup and reconsider a different format for the times going forward.
In the meantime I thank you on behalf of my fellow Trustees and the various Committees, our sponsors and donors for your tireless commitment, generosity and support.
