The 31st Annual Golden Stave Charity Luncheon!
Back to the 80’s!
The 31st Annual Golden Stave Charity Luncheon was held on Friday June 26th, at the Hordern Pavilion, Moore Park, Sydney. The Golden Stave Lunch has raised over $11 million in 31 years which is much needed money for children’s charities and this years lunch raised a further $450,000. A great result taking into consideration we are in the midst of the current Global Financial Crisis. We are so grateul to all our wonderful friends and supporters for sticking with us during these tough times.
The theme this year was ”Back to the 80’s”, and lots of the attendess dressed up in their favourite 80’s gear as they enjoyed a day packed full of great entertainment!!
Beginning with a fantastic opening set from Tommy Emmanuel who had just returned to Australia in June for his “Centre Stage Tour!
Then followed Mental As Anything currently celebrating 30 years since the release of their first EP who wowed the crowd with some great Mental’s classics!
To compliment the day's theme the guests enjoyed an 80’s inspired dance routine from Stephen & Danny from "So You Think You Can Dance". Col Joye was one of four Golden Stave Hall of Fame recipients while Iva Davies received the Nordoff-Robbins award!
Late in the afternoon The Radiators came on and immediately had the guests up and and dancing!
Followed by a powerful closing set from headline act, Legendary Australian Rocker Jimmy Barnes who had the guests well and truly dancing in the aisles!
The Golden Stave would like to thank the featured artists for their generous support and all our special guests such as joint MC's Bianca Dye and Shaun James from xyz Networks and co presenters Yumi Stynes, Renee Bargh, Jane Gazzo, Kyle Linahan, Chit Chat, Jonesey & Amanda, Charlotte Dawson, James Mathison and Jabba who made the day with their cheerful banter and helped us raise even more money for sick and under priveleged children! Some of the days auction results included Chrissy Amphlett’s infamous school girl tunic which sold for $2,000, a commemorative personally autographed frame of The Who which raised $8,500 and a commemorative ACDC plaque which raised a further $3,000. Speed Painter Brad Blaze entertained the crowd with his portraits of Pink, Bono & Jimmy Barnes which collectively raised almost another $10,000 for the day.
The Golden Stave Lunch is legendary and so the legend continues!
